Suspect in attack on US Rep Angie Craig arrested

Media downplays violent assault

US Congressman Angie Craig, 50, was assaulted in the elevator of her Washington DC apartment building. She says she was attacked, punched, and grabbed by the neck. Craig used her keys as a weapon to jab the thug and splashed her coffee on him. She made it through the attack with only bruises.

Craig’s chief of staff Nick Coe immediately declared the attack to be “not political.” Even though the DC police quickly released surveillance camera stills of the suspect, most media were censoring the description of the at-large suspect.

Police quickly arrested Kendrick Hamlin, also known as Hamlin Khalil Hamlin. Media immediately described the perp as an erratic homeless man. It appears that he was previously released from police custody on December 21, 2022, after being held for thirty days.

Craig is a Democrat and one of the first lesbians elected to Congress. The way the media treated the attack seems substantially different from the attack on Paul Pelosi.
