Gypsies staged three days of BLM style rioting in Greek city

Three days of rioting and arson

A 16-year-old Gypsy male was shot and injured by police during an alleged violent rampage on the morning of December 5th. Police say the unnamed male stole gasoline from a petrol station. He led police on a high-speed chase and tried to ram a police officer on a motorcycle with his truck.

Gypsie activists called for “protests” on the evening of December 5th. The protesters who showed up immediately started rioting. Then rioting continued for three days in Aspropyrgos and neighboring communities. The scene was reminiscent of the BLM rioting across America in 2020.

Gypsies, also known as Roma, are an ethnic group from Northern India. The Mongols are believed to have brought large numbers to Europe and the Middle East as enslaved people and abandoned them when they retreated. The Gypsies are famous for actively resisting integration and tend to live in parallel societies. The Ottoman Turks called them “Egyptians” for reasons that are now lost to history. Over time this was shortened to “Gypsy.”
