Mississippi had the highest homicide rate in the nation in 2020, according to the CDC. However, this is the state with the fewest percentage of law enforcement agencies reporting data on homicides to the FBI.

Jackson, MS had the highest homicide rate of any American city with 100k or more residents in 2020.
