Update: John Sullivan was taken into custody Thursday evening.
John Sullivan, AKA “Activist John” AKA “Jayden X,” is a far-left protest leader who founded Insurgence USA. He is already facing charges of rioting and criminal mischief in Utah. On June 30th, he held a “protest” in Provo, Utah, which immediately turned into a violent riot. One of Sullivan’s supporters shot and wounded a motorist.
Sullivan was the man who videotaped Ashli Babbitt being shot and killed inside the Capitol. He was only a few feet away from Babbitt. He has since posted videos on Twitter saying that he climbed through a broken window and then pushed his way to the front of the crowd. He was wearing a red Trump hat while doing this.
Sullivan was briefly detained by police, but then let go. During the past week and a half, Feds have been arresting alleged rioters all over the country, while Sullivan continued to post videos and fundraise for himself on Twitter. Currently, his Twitter account still remains live. He even sent a tweet denouncing Trump supporters as “terrorists.”
Yesterday, the FBI filed a criminal complaint against John Sullivan in the United States District Court, District of Columbia. It is unclear if he has actually been arrested. On Twitter, he has been saying he was back home in Utah. His most recent tweets are from around 10:00 AM this morning.
The criminal complaint against John Sullivan makes very specific accusations that Sullivan was verbally egging people on to riot.
“You guys are fucking savage. Let’s go!”
“We gotta get this shit burned.”
“It’s our house motherfuckers.”
“We are getting this shit.”
“Hey guys, I have a knife. I have a knife. Let me up.”
“Haul that motherfucker out this bitch.”
“Why don’t we go in there.”
“That’s what I’m sayin’, break that shit.”
“It would be fire if someone had revolutionary music and shit.”
Further, the complaint accuses Sullivan of using violent language at a previous far-left protest in Washington DC.
“We about to burn this shit down.”
“We got to rip Trump out of office . . . fucking pull him out of that shit . . . we ain’t waiting until the next election . . . we about to go get that motherfucker.”
“It’s time for a revolution.”
The complaint also says Sullivan was wearing a kevlar vest and carrying a gas mask. It says that once Babbitt is shot, Sullivan pleaded with cops “I just want to go home.” Sullivan then told police, as well as his Twitter followers, that he was just a “journalist” who was only trying to document what was happening.
The complaint gives a laundry list of crimes that include various types of trespassing, impeding law enforcement, disrupting official government business with threatening behavior, and engaging in an act of physical violence in the Capitol building.
