National Conservative has restarted comments. High quality comments can enhance a website. They can also help with repeat traffic. The hard part is getting people to post comments when there are not any to begin with. I’ve worked on a lot of websites. Even with very high traffic, no one ever wants to post comments when there are no comments to begin with.
We decided not to use disqus again because it is tracking users. For now, we are hosting the comments ourselves with WordPress.
