Convicted murderer on parole allegedly kills three during mass shooting

On Jul. 12, 1996, Corey Grant Leak was convicted of first-degree murder for killing Arreatta “Sasue” Scott. The murder took place on Dec. 29, 1993. He also has conviction for assault, burglary, and larceny. Corey Leak was sentenced to life in prison, yet authorities granted him parole on Oct. 12, 2020.

On Jan. 24, 2023, he allegedly killed three people during a mass shooting at a house in Red Springs, NC. The victims are James Elijah Beauregard, Donald Kendrick Williams, and Sierra Nicole Wherry. Equilla Biggs-Williams, 71, was injured. Leak was charged with three counts of first degree murder, first degree attempted murder, and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.

Donald Kendrick Williams and Sierra Nicole Wherry are Leak’s cousins. James Elijah Beauregard is a childhood friend of Leak.
