Career criminal on parole: No problem!

You still get released under the IL Safe-T Act

On September 18th, the IL Safe-T Act went into effect. The bill eliminates bonds and cash bail statewide. Many offenses, including burglary and aggravated assault, are now non-detainable.

Some judges and chief prosecutors are sounding the alarm. They say their hands are tied and cannot protect the public from dangerous criminals.

The Safe-T Act may be the most significant “social justice” experiment ever enacted by an entire state.

The new law also requires all counties in Illinois to have a dedicated public defender’s office. Most counties currently do not because their population is so low. This will create a tremendous financial burden for some of these.
