King County, Washington, home to the city of Seattle, has already more people die of overdoses in 2023 than they did for the entire year in 2020.
In 2022, about 2.7 people in King County died of overdoses daily. This accounted for about 40% of overdose deaths in the entire state. The death rate has increased to 3.2 per day in 2023 so far.
The number one killer is fentanyl.
