Amanda Walkes, 37, was arrested Wednesday on charges of child neglect with great bodily harm, tampering with a witness, and criminal conspiracy. She allegedly tried to coerce her daughter into withdrawing accusations of sexual abuse against Earen Huings.

Earen Huings, 49, is Walkes’ live-in boyfriend. He was arrested last month and charged with sixteen crimes, including sexual battery on a child less than 12 and aggravated assault with a firearm.

The Coral Springs police department alleges that Huings had abused Walke’s daughter since 2017. The girl is now 16, and her 17-year-old boyfriend confronted Huings about the girl’s claim. Huings allegedly retrieved a gun and fired it next to the 17-year-old’s head. The victim was not hit but was hospitalized with severe ear pain.

Police say they found photographic evidence on the girl’s phone that she had been sexually abused by Huings as recently as December 15, 2022.

Public records show Huings was taken into custody on December 17 and remains locked up at the Paul Rein Detention Facility.

Huings is an immigrant from the Bahamas. It is unclear if he is an actual US citizen, a permanent resident, or an illegal alien. He was denied bond in part because he is an international flight risk.

Walke was allegedly allowing Huing to sexually abuse her daughter. After Huings was placed in detention, Walkes and Huings allegedly conspired over the phone about how to coerce the child to withdraw their accusation.

Walkes is now in the same detention facility with a $50k bond. Ironically, this is the same amount of money she won in the state lottery on January 5, 2023, just seven days before her arrest.
