The entire state of Georgia has laws protecting squatters. It is illegal for the home-owner to forcibly remove squatters. In Atlanta, the police will generally refuse to provide any assistance and tell you to go to the courts.
According to local media, Atlanta now leads the nation in criminal squatting. It is even being organized for profit on social media.
