Libya arrests airline official for trafficking illegal aliens to the USA

How many Jihadists came to the USA this way?

The commercial director of Ghadames Air, a private airline company in the Government of National Accord [GNA] controlled western Libya, faces arrest and prosecution for “committing an activity harmful to the interests of the country.”

According to the GNA Attorney General’s office, Ghadames Air was transporting foreign men to Nicaragua for the purpose of illegally entering the United States. The director has not been named in public statements. The airline was founded in 2021.

The Obama administration initially sponsored the GNA. Its principal backers today are Turkey, Qatar, and the Muslim Brotherhood. For over ten years, has been fighting a civil war against the Libyan National Army [LNA] led by longtime former CIA asset Khalifa Haftar. The LNA is primarily supported by Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

GNA-controlled territory has long been a hotbed of Jihadists and criminal gangs. For years, it was one of the main staging points for illegal immigration into Europe. However, the GNA and the LNA are now both deporting illegal immigrants to cooperate with Italy and the EU in curbing the flow.
