German governor deletes Twitter account

Chancellor Scholz also said to exploring alternatives

Stephan Weil is the Minister-President of Niedersachsen or Lower Saxony. A Minister-President is the head of a German state government. Weil is also head of the Social Democrats [SPD] in Niedersachsen.

He deleted his Twitter account to protest the leadership of Elon Musk. He had 10.5k followers.

In his final Tweet, he denounced Twitter for the alleged spread of “hate, propaganda, false information, and conspiracy theories.”

A reporter asked a spokesman for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz if he would remain on Twitter. The spokesman called Twitter “problematic” and said Scholz was looking into alternatives. Scholz has over 600k followers.
