At the Astros World Series victory parade in Houston, Texas, US Senator Ted Cruz was hit with an unopened can of White Claw.
Joseph Halm Arcidiacono, 33, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with an enhancement charge for using a deadly weapon. Police say he confessed to throwing two can of White Claw at Ted Cruz, stating, “I know, I’m an idiot. I’m sorry.” He was given a $40k bond.
Ted Cruz said he avoided serious injury only because “the clown who threw his White Claw had a noodle for an arm.”
Arcidiacono’s defense attorney would claim that he only threw the cans in hopes that Ted Cruz would “crack one open and chug it.”
The District Attorney is Kim Ogg, a Democrat who is widely accused of being soft on crime. Since her election, the percentage of felonies and misdemeanors being dropped has risen substantially.
Prosecutors deny responsibility by saying a Grand Jury failed to indict Arcidiacono. A grand jury indictment is not necessary to prosecute the man. Only federal felony cases require a grand jury indictment. Grand juries are widely viewed as a political theater for prosecutors to avoid negative backlashes for their actions. To a large degree, grand juries only see what the prosecutors want them to see and can be easily manipulated. Many want the grand juries abolished for being a disingenuous waste of time and resources.
