2nd Mass Shooting at an HBCU campus in eight days

HBCUs have a severe Black violence problem

In 2022, US President Joe Biden told an HBCU audience that some White people still wanted to lynch them. In 2023, he told an HBCU audience that White Supremacists were their greatest threat.

In the past 13 months, there have been at least five HBCU-related Black on Black mass shootings.

October 19, 2024 – Albany State University – Grant Student Center

Mass shooting at a homecoming concert. Five people were shot. De-Morion Tayshawn Daniels, 19, was killed. The four wounded are ages 13 to 20. The shooter is still at large.

October 12, 2024 – Tennessee State University – Homecoming Parade

Two gunmen opened fire as the parade was ending. Ten people were shot. Vonquae Johnson, 24, was killed. The nine injured are ages 12 to 55. Marquez Davis, 24, and DeAnthony Brown, 24, were arrested and charged.

May 14, 2024 – Harris–Stowe State University – Parking Lot

A group of Black males drove past campus and opened fire on a group of people in a campus parking lot. Five victims were shot. Eddie Randall Jr., 19, was killed. Three Black men have been charged with crimes. Jordan Huiddlen, 27, and Kevin Huddlen, 31, have been arrested.

November 05, 2023 – Prairie View A&M University – Off-campus Homecoming “Trail-Ride Pasture Party”

This event is described as a semi-official student party that was permitted with security and insurance. Seven people were shot, including juveniles. No one was killed. There have been two other Black-on-Black murders at Prairie View A&M University since this mass shooting!

October 04, 2023 – Morgan State University – Thurgood Marshall Residence Hall

Mass shooting during homecoming celebrations. Five people were shot and injured. Jovon Williams, 18, and an unidentified 17-year-old suspect were arrested.
