14 shot, including a pastor and his wife, at a vigil for a shooting victim in Texas

1 dead, 13 injured

Disha Allen

Mass shootings at vigils for shooting victims are becoming an increasingly common phenomenon in the USA.

The most recent one took place in Baytown, Texas, where fourteen people were injured by gunfire, including at least one child. A local pastor, who was leading the vigil, and his wife were both shot.

Disha Allen, a twenty-five-year-old Puerto Rican, died from a gunshot wound at the hospital. She leaves behind a four-year-old daughter. The vigil was for her daughter’s godfather, who was recently murdered by gunfire.

Witnesses say a fight broke out at the vigil before the shooting. The perpetrator torched his vehicle two miles from the scene of the shooting.
