NYC Mayor Eric Adams was indicted last month on federal charges related to bribery, campaign finance violations, and conspiracy. Primarily related to allegations of accepting expensive gifts in exchange for favors while he was Brooklyn Borough President from 2014 to 2021.
Adams previously bragged that he was packing the city government with Black people. He boasted, “Have you ever seen this much chocolate leading the city of New York.”
Now Adams is blaming his legal problems on racism and claiming he is unfairly targeted because he is Black.
The following members of the Eric Adams administration have resigned:
- Sheena Wright (Black), First Deputy Mayor, who resigned after a raid on her home.
- David Banks (Black), NYC Schools Chancellor and Wright’s husband, who was pressured to resign by Adams
- Phil Banks (Black), Deputy Mayor for Public Safety
- Tim Pearson (Black), Senior Advisor to Eric Adams
- Edward Caban (Puerto Rican), NYPD Commissioner, accused of corruption by whistle-blowers
- Mohamed Bahi (Arab), Chief Liason to the Muslim Community, arrested and charged with federal witness tampering and destruction of evidence
- Winnie Greco (Chinese), Director of Asian Affairs
- Eric Ulrich (Puerto Rican), NYC Building Inspector, indicted on charges of bribery and corruption
