Shakedown? Tesla temp alleges wild tales of daily racial abuse at Fremont factory; San Francisco jury awards him $137 mil

Is this another cost of doing business in the Bay Area?

The latest winner of the racial shakedown lottery appears to be Owen Diaz. In 2015 and 2016, he worked as a contract elevator operator for the Tesla factory in Fremont, California.

Fremont is in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is part of the most left-wing metropolitan area of the most left-wing state in the country. Yet Diaz alleges he was subjected to daily racial abuse. He claims employees called him racial slurs, including the “n-word.” Diaz also says the plant was full of “swastikas” and “racist graffiti.”

The claims made by Diaz sound extremely far-fetched, especially considering that similar stories like this are being exposed as hoaxes every week in the USA.

Nevertheless, a San Francisco jury awarded Diaz a staggering $137 million. Tesla issued a statement saying that the factory should have taken the elevator operators’ claims more seriously in 2015. However, Tesla did not concede that any of his claims were true.

Tesla has also built a giant battery factory in Arizona that began production in 2017. They are currently building monster car factories in Texas and Brandenburg, Germany. Another factory has partially opened in Shanghai, China.

It is uncertain if Tesla will even continue operating its Fremont, California factory in the future. Tesla founder Elon Musk has threatened to leave California completely over the state’s hostile anti-business environment.
