Dominik Feri loses appeal on rape convictions

Dominik Feri, who went by “Choco-Afro” on social media, was the first Black man ever elected to the Czech parliament. He became a member of the Chamber of Deputies in 2017. He remains the only Black man ever elected.

Major media outlets heaped wild praise on him. Politico named him #8 on their list of #28 politicians who would “reshape” Europe. Feri resigned in 2021 over multiple allegations of rape and sexual harassment. The same media outlet that hero-worshipped him went silent. Many have never mentioned him ever again.

In late 2023, he was convicted of rap of a minor, rape of an adult, and attempted rape. He was sentenced to three years in prison. Today, a Czech court denied his appeal and upheld the sentence.
