Lawrence Paul Anderson has confessed to killing his next-door neighbor, Andrea Lynn Blankenship, 41. He slaughtered the woman and cooked her heart into a stew.
He allegedly fed or tried to feed the stew to his aunt, uncle, and granddaughter. Police say he then stabbed his uncle Leon Pye, 67, to death. He stabbed his granddaughter, Kaeos Yates, 4, to death. He stabbed his aunt, Delsie Pye, 64, in her eyes. She survived.
This was not some law-abiding man who just had a sudden onset of mental problems. He was habitually in trouble with the law. In 2017, a judge sentenced him to twenty years in prison for a series of parole violations.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, a Republican, personally intervened and commuted his sentence last July. Because Stitt involved himself and came to the rescue of Anderson, he was released from prison on January 18th, 2021.
In 2019, Gov Kevin Stitt began mass commuting the sentences of hundreds of inmates in Oklahoma. The media praised him for it, and he was eager to virtue signal for the cameras. At the time Stitt claimed that he was saving the taxpayers millions per year by commuting sentences.
