A car containing two adults and four children was riddled with bullets on I-57 in the Morgan Park area of Chicago’s south side.
The car got off 1-57 at exit 355 for 111st Street and then stopped on South Hamlet Ave.
Nasir Hall, 19, William Smith, 13, and Amara Hall, 1, were killed. Three other people, an adult male, and two children, were injured. Police say that the shooter would have easily been able to see that the car was full of children.
Police are hopeful that surveillance cameras on the interstate will likely lead to a quick arrest. Morgan Park is a majority-Black area.
So far, there has been a significant uptick in deadly mass shootings in 2023.
