FBI quietly revises 2022 crime data upward

This is a growing government trend!

There is a growing trend now that federal reports will show inflated data and are revised downward later on. Now, this is being done with crime.

The FBI has quietly revised crime data from 2021 and 2022, which shatters media narratives on declining crime.

The new data adds hundreds of thousands of crimes. The revised data changes a 6.1% drop in murders to a 1.5% increase. The change in murders from 2021 to 2022 went from -1,380 to +319, for a net change of +1,699! Car theft went from a 10.9% increase to an 18.3% increase.

Overall, violent crime went from a 2.1% drop to a 4.5% increase.

This revision comes weeks after the FBI released 2023 data and declared that crime had fallen three years in a row. This is now shown to be false. Also, since data from 2021 and 2022 were not accurate, we can not assume that the 2023 data is accurate either.

This chart shows the net change upward for different crime categories from 2021 to 2022:

Also note that this data is reported crime. It is generally presented by the FBI and the media as actual crime. Murder and auto theft are the most reliable numbers, because they are always going to be reported. Others crimes often become less likely to be reported if the public feels that police and prosecutors are not going to do anything anyway. Also, in some communities there is a culture of not reporting crimes. This is why the FBI Victimization Survey is so important.
