Assault homicide death rates by year and race

From CDC

Assault homicide death rate, is the rate at which people are dying as victims of homicides. Rates are per 100K. All data from the Center for Disease Control [CDC].

AI/AN is American Indian and Alaskan Native. PI/HN is Pacific Islander and Hawaiian Native. Note that Asian and Pacific Island were part of the same racial category pre-2018. So these categories are only shown for 2018-2023.

Also note that the CDC’s assault homicide death rates are generally higher than official homicide rates. This is because cities have spent decades continuously tweaking their own definitions of “murder/non-negligent homicide” in order to drive their official rates down.
