Arrest made in hate crime style attack on former San Francisco Police Commissioner

#StopAsianHate?

Derrick Yearby, 34, has been arrested for the unprovoked attack on former San Francisco Police Commissioner Greg Chew, 70.

Chew was attacked across the street from his house. The thug punched him, threw him to the ground, and kicked him. Chew was hospitalized after the attack. Nothing was stolen.

The San Francisco District Attorney’s office says they will hold Yearby accountable. However, they are not filing hate crime charges because the suspect did not speak during the attack.

The media and Asian advocacy groups have struggled with how to discuss the current surge in Black on Asian hate crimes while at the same time being politically correct and not anger Black advocacy groups. There was a rally against anti-Asian hate crimes in San Francisco, but no one was talking about who is committing the attacks.
