Saturday night, February 6th, self-identifying members of Antifa & BLM rioted in Washington DC. They blocked streets, screamed at outside diners with megaphones, and battled with police. Among other things, they chanted “burn it down!” over and over. The mob also chanted “all cops are bastards,” and “f*ck the police.”
The rioting took place near Dupont Circle, an area full of trendy restaurants and shops. Because of coronavirus lockdowns, many diners are eating outside, and this makes them a target for violent Antifa. Most of these restaurants are barely clinging to life because of the crippling Covid-19 lockdown imposed by Mayor Bowser. They are only allowed to utilize 25% of their indoor capacity and must cease all sales of food and drink at 10:00 PM.
This is not the first time that Antifa and BLM “activists” have harassed outdoor diners in this area, which makes people afraid to even go to them. These Antifa & BLM rioters are actively putting working-class restaurant staff out of work. More and more restaurants in the area have been closing permanently each month.
Mayor Bowser has limited all outside gatherings to no more than 25 people, but this is in no way, shape, or form applied to Antifa or BLM. Meanwhile, Bowser is enforcing her coronavirus lockdown measures aggressively against working people, slapping restaurants with huge fines.
Bowser forces diners to be on the sidewalk where Antifa/BLM can target them while allowing Antifa/BLM to violate her rules with total impunity. The rioters have little fear of arrest because they know it is unlikely they will ever be prosecuted for a crime.
