5.1% of all deaths last year were from euthanasia

In 2021, the euthanasia death rate in the Netherlands was a staggering 43.7 per 100k. The rate went up to approximately 49.7 per 100k in 2022.

About 5.1% of all deaths in the Netherlands were caused by people being euthanized in 2022.

Under new rules, those as young as twelve can now be euthanized.

The suicide rate in 2021 was 11.3 per 100k. Suicides have not decreased with the legalization of euthanasia. In fact, the suicide rate is much higher now than it was in the 60s and 70s. In the 2000s, the Dutch suicide rate had been going down but reversed direction around 2010.

Euthanasia was first legalized in the Netherlands in 2002.
