Snow White flop was subsidized by British tax-payers

UK tax-dollars at work

Disney’s production costs for the new live-action movie, released on March 21, 2025, reached $269.4 million by the end of December 2023. We know this due to public filings required to receive funds from the UK’s Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC). In exchange for filming in the UK, the British government’s AVEC program can reimburse companies for 34% of expenditures on up to 80% of total qualifying costs.

British taxpayers funded a $55.5 million reimbursement to Disney’s UK subsidiary, Hidden Heart Productions. This reduced the movie’s production costs by nearly 21%.

Disney also spent over $100 million promoting the movie. Audiences have universally hated the movie so far.
