Kate Chatfield is the Senior Director of Legislation and Policy at the San Fransisco County District Attorney’s office. Her boss is “progressive prosecutor” District Attorney Chesa Boudin.
Crime is spiraling out of control in San Fransico, and the causes are directly related to her office. Boudin is refusing to prosecute large numbers of crime suspects in the name of “social justice.”
However, Chatfield refuses to concede that her policies have failed. Instead, she is digging her heels in. She blasted a man on Twitter for complaining about the city’s surging crime rate and suggested that he was a member of the KKK.
Chatfield claimed that the only people concerned about rising crime are the people who share the same ideology as “The Birth of a Nation.” This is a Hollywood movie released in 1915 that romanticized the historical Reconstruction-era vigilante groups that are commonly referred to collectively as “Ku Klux Klan.” The film inspired all modern organizations using the name Ku Klux Klan.
Chatfield immediately locked down her entire Twitter account after people took notice of the outrageous message. She is the former Senior Advisor of Legislation and Policy at The Justice Collaborative. This is a 501c3 that advocates for criminals and seeks to reduce the time that criminals spend in custody. Chatfield’s job descriptions say she advocates for policies that “reduce the size and scope of our carceral system.” In other words, fewer people in custody for fewer reasons.
Chatfield is crediting with co-writing California’s Senate Bill 1437. Passed in 2018, the bill lowered the criminal penalties for a person who participated in a pre-meditated murder as an accomplice.
