On May 28th, 2023, an unnamed Moroccan national, 16, attacked Paul P., 15, during a soccer tournament. The victim fell into a coma and died from his injuries three days later.
Paul P. played for JFC Berlin, while the Moroccan perpetrator played for the French team FC Metz. The game was part of an under-17 tournament held in Frankfurt.
The perpetrator was charged with “bodily injury resulting in death” and held in a juvenile detention center in Germany. Yesterday, the Moroccan was given a free pass in court. The judge gave him a suspended two year sentence and ordered his immediate release from juvenile detention.
