A thirty-four-year-old aspiring gangster rapper from Indianapolis, whose birth name is apparently Diabolique Paris Johnson, has been charged for a murder in Detroit last September.
Johnson goes by the pseudonym “Chuck Da MF $” and has an unsuccessful rap album called “eyes Wide Shut.” He also appears in gonzo porn movies on Porn Hub using the same name. Police say that Johnson murdered Joshua J. Smelser, 39, a videographer, who had moved to Detroit six months earlier. Johnson allegedly went on a crime spree in Detroit last September, targetting homosexual men. He used a cellphone dating app to lure Smelser, and at least one other victim into ambushes.
Johnson was caught on surveillance cameras running from Smelser’s home with a backpack and laptop computer.
Johnson was previously charged with armed robbery and extradited to Michigan last December. Now he has also been charged with first-degree murder for killing Smelser.
The case is the first joint operation between the Wayne County Prosecutors office and Michigan’s State Hate Crimes Unit.
