“Even though there have been practically no cases of clinical infection, wastewater samples show that the new omicron variant is now the dominant strain of COVID-19 in the Florida county” – ABC National News.
For the past week, multiple Florida counties have begun testing wastewater for the omicron variant of the SARS2/Covid-19 virus. Authorities in Miami-Dade county began reporting the presence of omicron almost a week ago.
Now Orange County says that omicron is the dominant variant food in wastewater testing. In fact, authorities samples say omicron represented almost 100% of all virus fragments found in some samples.
Orange County is home to over 1.1 million people, the Orlando International Airport [MCO], and Walt Disney World. MCO is the third largest airport in the United States, and Walt Disney World is the largest theme park in the country.
South Africa and England now report that omicron is widespread, but severe infections and hospitalizations are way down.
