A fourteen year old has been charged with killing Tahaad Goss, a 16 year old Black male in Trenton. Goss was shot in the face in the basement of a Trenton home on March 31st.
On May 2nd, a 14 year old was charged with reckless manslaughter and providing false information to the police. The identity of the suspect is classified due to laws that pamper and protect underage criminals.
The suspect was immediately released from custody, even though he is said to be living at “a shelter.” He will be required to wear an ankle bracelet.
It is unlikely that he will face real consequences for his actions as the judicial system will continue to coddle him because of his age.
The FBI reports that in 2020, 17.5% of known homicide suspects were under the age of twenty. In 2019, this was 17.0%.
In 2019, the FBI provided more details on young homicide suspects than they did in 2020. In 2019, 4.2% of known homicide suspects were under the age of 17. Of these, 59.6% were Black.
