In 1994, Daimion Osby, a young Black male, killed two other Black males. Osby’s lawyers used what is now referred to as the “Urban Survival Defense.”
They said Osby feared for his life and acted in self-defense. His defense lawyers recruited Jared Taylor, author of Paved With Good Intentions, to testify as an expert witness. Taylor explained that it is reasonable to perceive Black males as more dangerous than White males, just as it is considered appropriate to see males as more dangerous than females.
Males generally murder at nine times the rate that females do. Black males generally murder at nine times the rate that White males do.
