The Biden Administration advised Americans to reconsider travel plans to Jamaica. They also issued individual lists of places to stay away from in twelve of Jamaica’s fourteen countries.
The advisory states that even “all-inclusive resorts” are experiencing sexual attacks. The report states that US government employees are prohibited from traveling to certain areas or using public buses.
Nationwide, Jamaica had a murder rate of 49.3 per 100k in 2023. As high as this is, it was even higher in 2022, with 52.9 per 100k.
